The Lampasas junior varsity tennis team continues to impress.

After earning victories over Copperas Cove and Leander earlier in the season, the Badgers and Lady Badgers kept their winning streaks alive last Thursday, defeating Gatesville.

Following in the varsity squad's footsteps, the junior varsity team dominated the doubles matches.

The duos of Kenneth McGuire/ Michael Harris, Kevan Robertson/ Jonah Cantu, Casey Scott/ Cheyenne Morrow, Becca Thornton/Nichole Queen, and Ashley Henry/Madison Henniger all walked off the court with victories.

In singles competition, Lampasas was equally successful.

On the boys' side, the Badgers lost just two games in four matches as McGuire, Harris, Cantu and Robertson all won with ease.

The girls did not run into much of a threat either. Scott, Morrow, Queen, Thornton, Henniger, Henry, and Cassandra Lee were each victorious. As a group, the girls only lost six games.

With only a few matches remaining in the season, head coach Kenneth Peiser is pleased with his team, but knows there are still improvements to be made.

"All the players are winning their matches, but they are still doing it by pushing," the coach said. "We will be working more on swinging through shots and not being afraid to miss."

The junior varsity team's next match is scheduled for Thursday when Lampasas travels to Copperas Cove for a rematch of the season-opener.
