The Oran Milo Roberts Chapter, Daughters of the Republic of Texas, met Oct. 5 at the home of Ann Johnson.

After an opening prayer and pledges to the American and Texas flags, Wilda Mullins introduced Lampasans Charlie and Carolyn Brown who presented a program on his ancestor, Elijah Stapp, an early Texas pioneer who was a signer of the Texas Declaration of Independence in 1836.

Stapp and his sons continued to be active in the fight for independence from Mexico and in the history of the Republic of Texas.

Refreshments were served by hostesses Mrs. Johnson and Glynda Carpenter to 19 members and guests.

President Diane Davis presided over the chapter's business meeting, which adjourned with a reminder of the next meeting on Nov. 2 at the Hostess House.

Linda Floerke will present the program on the Higher Education Learning Center for Lampasas.
