Bike enthusiasts ready for their day
The Lampasas County Chamber of Commerce is hosting the fourth annual Lampasas County Historic Fire House Run Biker Rally Friday through Sunday behind Country Inn, at the intersection of U.S. Highways 190, 281 and 183. All bikers are welcome.
Registration is Friday from 5-10 p.m. and Saturday beginning at 11 a.m. Fee is $25 per person and includes all activities, memorabilia and a barbecue dinner. Event Tshirts will be available for sale.
Registration forms can be picked up at the chamber office, 205 S. U.S. 281, or downloaded online at www.lampasaschamber.org.
Entry, guaranteed to the first 300 participants, also is available on event day.
Free on-site tent camping is open Friday and Saturday to any registered biker.
On Friday, gates open at 5 p.m., and live music will be played.
A number of activities will be offered Saturday:
• Washer tournament.
• Fire Run historic firehouse tour of Lampasas County, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tokens will be traded for raffle tickets by 4:30 p.m.
• Rare Dog Band performance, 2 p.m., featuring the guitar harmonies of Charlie Cagle and Greg Brazeal, along with Billy Peak and Dan Rielly. The Texas group's recent CD, "Texas Back Roads," combines rock, country, Spanish and blues influences.
• Biker games, coordinated by the Brotherhood of Bikers Hill Country Chapter from 3-4:30 p.m.
• Bike parade through town at 4 p.m.
• People's Choice Bike Show, 4- 5:30 p.m.
• A barbecue dinner is included for participants; tickets are $10 for all others. The meal will be served at 6 p.m., followed by an awards presentation.
• Redneck Jedi performance, 7 p.m., which will bring its blend of classic, southern rock and Texas music. The group will play selections from their upcoming album, "Unplugged and Underground."
• A blessing of the bikes is Sunday at 8 a.m.
Vendor booths are 10x10-foot spaces at $40 apiece. Food booths are $60. Applications are available at the chamber office or online.
A portion of the event proceeds will benefit Lampasas County fire departments and community center. The public is invited to attend the rally.
