Suggestions to improve Hancock pool

2009-10-06 / Letters

The Hancock Springs Free-Flow Pool was open nearly three months [this summer] and had a most successful season. Many thanks to City Manager Michael Stoldt, Parks & Recreation director Micky Tower and the lifeguard staff for their hard work and attention to the "Cool Pool." Families and individuals from Lampasas and many from out of town enjoyed the clean pool, well-kept grounds and cool, refreshing, chlorine-free water.

There were many swimmers from Austin, Killeen, Fort Hood, Fort Worth, Copperas Cove, Gatesville, Llano, Waco and San Antonio who enjoyed the pool. Many asked about places to eat in town. A list of eateries kept at the pool might help.

Also, many expressed a need for a decent change room with attached restroom.

We need to apply for a grant to build a change room and restroom that could be used by swimmers and golfers that would show off not just our beautiful jewel of a pool but our city. Portable toilets do not leave the best impression.

We want visitors to drive home clean and dry with a lasting, positive impression of our town and historic pool with the healing medicinal value.
