Serving the right way

The Lampasas tennis team is serving the right way. Under the leadership of coaches Kenneth Peiser and Scott Harrelson, the team is making Lampasas very proud as the players compete in matches in district play.

Coach Peiser and Coach Harrelson set high expectations, and our kids play to those expectations. We might not always have the most talented tennis players; however, our kids will give the best effort each time on the court. The kids play hard for our coaches and want to achieve the most for the team.

For those who do not know how team tennis is scored, it goes like this: There are 7 doubles matches and 12 singles matches. The first team to win 10 of the 19 matches is declared the winner.

Last Saturday, we beat Hutto 19-0, and this past Tuesday, Lampasas lost to Marble Falls in a hard-fought match of 11-8. Even though we lost, we played hard to the end, and this is a direct reflection of what our coaches expect.

Our tennis team displays character on and off the court, which shows that important attributes are being taught at Lampasas High School. If I had children in the Lampasas tennis program, I would be proud to have these two men coaching my kids, because it is evident they are setting good examples for our students.
