Alzheimer's association sets lunch event

The Capital of Texas Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association will host "Lunch N' Learn" events in several counties, including Lampasas.

Along with a complimentary lunch, the event will provide an opportunity to connect with other family and professional caregivers who are caring for someone with Alzheimer's disease or a related dementia.

The Lampasas event is Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Green Frog on U.S. Highway 281 South.

There is no charge to attend, however reservations should be made by phoning (512) 241-0420, ext. 15 or send an e-mail to TXPrograms@TX Alz.org.

According to a new national study conducted by the Alzheimer's Association, 10 million baby boomers will develop Alzheimer's disease. "The need for better informed family members and professional caregivers also will continue to increase, and therefore, this gathering is a great way to equip yourself with the skills you may someday need," said Christian Wells, program director for the chapter.

Other gatherings are scheduledt in Giddings, Rockdale, Johnson City and Burnet.
