A four-car accident Saturday morning on Key Avenue left three people with minor injuries and two vehicles totaled, according to Lampasas Police Department Traffic Officer Dean Werlinger, who gave the following account.

Crystal Hamilton, 17, of El Dorado was northbound on Key Avenue in a 2008 Pontiac Grand Am. She failed to stop at a red light, Werlinger said.

Lampasas resident Jose Garcia, 70, was westbound on Second Street in a 1996 Crown Victoria, and when the light turned green, he proceeded through the intersection.

At the same time, Stephen Morgan of Hico was in a 2009 Chevy Tahoe in the inside lane at the traffic light.

Miss Hamilton proceeded through the red light, and her vehicle hit the Crown Victoria, which spun across the road and struck the Tahoe and then a 2000 Ford pickup driven by Robert Lloyd of Lampasas.

Miss Hamilton and her sister, a passenger in the vehicle, and Garcia all were transported to Rollins Brook Community Hospital by Capital Ambulance. They had minor injuries, and Werlinger said he believed they were treated and released.

The Crown Victoria and the Grand Am were totaled and were towed from the scene.

The other drivers were not injured, and their vehicles received minor damage and were driven away.

Werlinger said occupants of all vehicles were wearing seat belts on the rainy Saturday morning.

Miss Hamilton received a traffic citation.
