TRYOUTS
The Copperas Cove Soldiers minor league football team will conduct tryouts Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Camp Triumph.
Cost is $35 on the day of the event and $25 for everybody who preregisters at www.League.Lineup.com/ CopperasCoveSoldiers.
Participants should dress in sport shorts, white T-shirt and cleats.
Entertainment will be provided for those who are not trying out.
The Soldiers are members of the Texas United Football League and are a component of the Next Generation Outreach Center mentorship program.
The next tryouts will be held on Oct. 10.

GOLF
Hancock Park Golf Course will host the first Preservation Lampasas Inc. four-person scramble on Sept. 19 beginning at 8 a.m.
Proceeds benefit historical Lampasas Colored School restoration.
Cost is $65 per player.

The 26th annual Highland Lakes Family Crisis Center Golf Tournament will be held Oct. 24 at the Delaware Springs Golf Course in Burnet.
In addition to the tournament, there will be a silent auction.
Various sponsorships are available.
Interested parties wanting more information should call 830-693-3656 and ask for the golf coordinator.
There is a 144-player limit.
SOCCER
The Tri-County Soccer Officials Association will sponsor a United States Soccer Federation grade nine (recreational) referee course Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Copperas Cove Public Library.
The course is suitable for youth officials and new adult referees participating in local recreational leagues. Successful completion qualifies the referee to officiate U-14 and below USSF matches.
TCSOA will pay the clinic fee in exchange for refereeing a minimum number of games in the local area. Each referee is responsible for the USSF registration fee.

RODEO
The Gustine Rodeo Club will host the first Ridin' for the Brand Ranch Rodeo on Oct. 17 in Gustine.
Events include sorting, mugging, doctoring and wild cow milking. Mike Wilfong is scheduled to be the stock contractor.
Ranch team entry deadline is Oct. 11 at 5 p.m. with a limit of 20 teams. Entry fee is $500 per team.
There will be a market place with various vendors beginning at 5 p.m. and the rodeo begins at 6 p.m. Vendors will be accepted until the day of the event.
After the rodeo, there will be a dance with Outlaw's Prayer performing.
Tickets for the rodeo or dance cost $5 at the gate or both can be purchased for $8. There is no charge for children under six.
