Joint gospel concert set
The Gospelaires will join Lampasas' Hims of Praise in concert on Saturday at First Street Church of Christ. Two well-traveled Christian men's singing groups will perform a capella gospel favorites at First Street Church of Christ, 201 W. First St., Saturday at 6 p.m.
The Gospelaires quartet began singing in 1974. The Cleburne group has performed in more than 19 states including on television programs and national radio.
Gaylord Sturgess of Arlington, David Wallace of Abilene, Cliff Holden of Burleson and B.B. Stephens of Cleburne comprise the group with a combined more than 100 years of singing with various organizations.
Also singing Saturday will be Hims of Praise, the men's chorus from First Street Church of Christ in Lampasas.
The group began singing in 1998 and has performed at the Red River Family Encampment in Red River, N.M.; at Abilene Christian University; and with several local events and festivals.
Hims of Praise performs favorites that include "The Old Rugged Cross," "Rise Up O Men of God," and "I'll Be There."
In addition, former First Street Church of Christ Minister Kevin Haynes will be present to sing with the group.
The concert begins at 6 p.m., and will be followed by a family game night and refreshments at 7:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall.
The event is free, and CDs of the groups will be available for purchase.
