Vodicka-Carnley
Zach and Courtney Carnley Courtney Lane Vodicka and Zachary Clayton Carnley, both of Carrollton, were married in an Aug. 1, 2009, ceremony on the Forest Deck of The Woodlands Resort and Conference Center in The Woodlands.
Rob King of Conroe officiated the double-ring evening ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Paula and Vincent Vodicka of The Woodlands.
The groom's parents are Lisa Carnley, and Thomas Carnley, both of Lampasas.
He is the grandson of Frank and Renee' Laifer of N. Syracuse, N.Y., and Marcia Carnley and the late Thomas C. Carnley of Lampasas.
The Howell Family Trio provided violin and flute music during the ceremony. Selections included Johann Pachelbel's "Canon in D," "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring," and "I Will be There."
The couple exchanged vows under an outdoor pavilion on a deck overlooking a lake and a golf course.
Large sprays of red flowers and greenery enhanced the outdoor area. Silver candelabras holding red votive candles and bouquets of red roses and greenery flanked both sides of the pavilion.
The bride was given in marriage by her father.
She wore a halter-style gown in soft ivory. The gown's droppedwaist bodice was heavily beaded with crystals, rhinestones and seed pearls.
The skirt fell into an A-line and was embellished with a semi-cathedral length train. Both the skirt and train were covered with beading and embroidery that coordinated with the gown's bodice.
The bride's tiered, elbow-length veil featured crystals and rhinestones adorning the edges.
To complement her gown, she carried two dozen cream Vendla roses with white orchids wrapped with off-white satin. Rhinestones were scattered throughout the bouquet.
Maid of honor was Julie DeGuerre of The Woodlands. Matron of honor was Esther Campbell of Nacogdoches.
Bridesmaids were Hailey Ellis and Lauren Byers of The Woodlands; Victoria Ornelas and Alicia Baker of Dallas; and Emily Galbraith of Frisco.
Attendants wore tea-length red, strapless chiffon dresses. The bodices featured a soft, multi-directional ruching detail with satin empire and natural waist-banding.
They carried a mix of Black Magic roses accented with red berries and Jamestory orchids. The bouquets were wrapped with red satin.
Flower girl was Sophia Harrison of Conroe. She wore a cream halter organza ballgown with a sweep train and back-bow details. She carried a white basket of red rose petals which she scattered on a carpeted path as she walked up the aisle.
Best man was Jason Carnley of Haslet, the groom's brother.
Groomsmen were Brandon Zerwas of Richmond; Adam Krueger of Austin; Travis Hill of Houston; Clay Gongora of Las Vegas, Nev.; Christopher George of Dallas; and Scott Haddox of Tomball.
The groom's nephew, Landon Carnley of San Angelo, was ring bearer.
Ushers were Adam Winans of Addison; Christopher Munoz of Keller; and Luke Yin of Allen.
Following the ceremony, a reception was given at the resort's Emerald Ballroom by the bride's parents.
Tables were covered with black satin cloths featuring crystal centerpieces of roses, candles and red apples. Chairs were adorned in black satin with large red backbows.
A buffet was served, and a disk jockey provided music for dancing.
The bride's four-tiered cake had alternating layers of almond and strawberry filling with Swiss cream frosting. It was topped with the couple's initials in silver. Each layer was banded in red satin ribbon.
The groom's chocolate cake had chocolate buttercream frosting. It was topped with three dozen chocolate-covered strawberries and a solid chocolate replica of a casket adorned with gold handles.
Members of the houseparty included Carolyn Kipper of San Clemente, Calif.; Chelsea Podlogar of Dallas; and Kasey Smith of Mount Vernon.
After a wedding trip to Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur, Mexico, the couple is at home in Carrollton.
The bride graduated from The Woodlands High School in 2003. She earned a bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies with an Early Childhood-fourth-grade teaching certification in 2007 from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches.
She is a fourth-grade teacher at J.O. Davis Elementary in the Irving Independent School District.
The groom is a 2002 Lampasas High School graduate. He earned a bachelor's degree in criminal justice in 2006 from Stephen F. Austin State University.
He graduated as valedictorian of his class in 2009 from the Dallas Institute of Funeral Service.
The groom is a funeral director/ embalmer for Eastgate Funeral Home in Garland.
A Mexican fiesta rehearsal dinner was given by the groom's parents at Cafe' Adobe in Shenandoah the evening before the wedding.
