Lampasas resident Jackie Wayne Owens, 68, died Aug. 24, 2009, in Round Rock.

Graveside services are Aug. 28 at 11 a.m. at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery.

Mr. Owens was born Nov. 10, 1940, in Waco, the son of Dorman Leon and Lela Mae Bowland Owens.

He graduated from Lampasas High School in 1959 and retired from the U.S. Army in 1965.

Mr. Owens retired from Civil Service in 1975. He was an avid fisherman.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Elaine Owens of Lampasas; a son, Kenneth Owens of Lampasas; daughters, Carrie Hyatt and Tobi Owens McGee, both of Lampasas; a brother, Stanley Owens; and grandchildren, Sarah Reid, Bailey Hyatt, Jackie Hyatt, Maci McGee and Melody Owens.

He was preceded in death by a son, Rodney Paul; and a brother, D.L. Owens.
