Couple exchange vows in outdoor ceremony

Amy and Cory Carroll Amy Jeffrey of McCaulley and Cory Carroll of Kempner were united in marriage in a July 4, 2009, ceremony at Hubbard Creek Reservoir in Breckenridge.

The more than 100 people in attendance expected to be at a Fourth of July fish fry, but instead, the couple surprised them with their wedding.

Jeff Sedberry of Aspermont Methodist Church officiated the double-ring evening ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Rick and Vick Jeffrey, and the granddaughter of the late James and Elouise Smart and the late A.W. and Roberta Jeffrey, all of McCaulley.

The groom's parents are Bobby and Staria Carroll of Kempner. He is the grandson of the late Lacy and Pauline Dillard and the late Jack and Hollis Carroll, all of Kempner.

The ceremony was held outdoors under an old oak tree overlooking a lake.

The bride was given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father.

She wore a white sundress with a square neckline, and carried a bouquet of pink gerber daisies.

Matron of honor was Abby McCullough, sister of the bride of Odessa. She wore a purple and white sundress with a V-neck, and carried a long-stemmed pink gerber daisy.

Flower girl was Abigail Carroll, daughter of the groom. She wore a pink, yellow and white sundress with pink flowers in her hair. She carried a long-stemmed pink gerber daisy.

Best man was Jake Wagner of San Angelo.

The reception was held by the lake. The three-tiered cake was iced in cream cheese frosting. Sparkling champagne was served.

After the reception and fireworks, the couple took a ride on an American-themed golf cart around the lake in the moonlight with patriotic music playing in the background.

The couple is at home in Kempner.

The bride earned a degree from Angelo State University. She is a pharmacy technician for the Lampasas Wal-Mart.

The groom earned a master of science degree in agricultural science from Angelo State. He is coowner of Kempner Equipment.
