The Lometa Hornets have hit the turf -- at least several of their teams have.

The Lometa varsity football team will face its second scrimmage of the preseason with action at Cherokee tonight.

Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. The regular season will begin on Aug. 28 with competition in Lometa against Covington.

Junior varsity players face Rochelle tonight on the road. The time will be announced.

The team scrimmaged last week against Newcastle/May.

The regular season for the JV will start Aug. 27 with a game at May beginning at 6 p.m.

The Lometa Junior High School football team will first hit the field on Sept. 10 when they travel to Richland Springs for a 6 p.m. contest.

Cherokee will be the next challenge for students when they head there for a contest starting at 6 p.m.
