Lampasas couple charged in infant daughter's death
Lowell Garza Two Lampasas parents have been arrested in connection with the death of their two-month-old daughter, Isabela Preslei Garza.
A preliminary verbal autopsy report from the Dallas medical examinar received by Lampasas County Sheriff David Whitis ruled the death a homicide by blunt-force trauma.
Officials from the Lampasas County Sheriff's Department responded to Metroplex Hospital in Killeen on Monday after being contacted by hospital personnel about a deceased infant, according to Whitis.
The infant was brought to the hospital by her parents for treatment.
As a result of the early investigation, deputies arrested and charged Lowell Preston Garza and Crystal Raquel Garza, both 19, with injury to a child with the intent of serious bodily injury, but Whitis said additional charges will be filed.
The investigation is ongoing by Texas Rangers and the sheriff's department.
The couple were arraigned and remain in the Lampasas County Jail as of Thursday morning. Garza's bail is set at $1 million, while his wife's bail is $750,000.
