Lampasas resident Guy Barton Reding, 84, died Aug. 18, 2009, at Windcrest Nursing Center in Cop- peras Cove.

Funeral services are Aug. 22 at 1 p.m. at First United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.

Visitation is Aug. 21 from 6-8 p.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel.

Mr. Reding was born Nov. 21, 1924, in Bell County, to Guy Willis and Clara Barton Black Reding.

He graduated from Killeen High School where he played football.

Mr. Reding joined the U.S. Marine Corps after graduation.

He married Annie Joe Hunter on June 3, 1948, in Lampasas.

Mr. Reding worked for the railway mail service and Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. before beginning a career with the Lampasas County USDA office, where he became the CED for Lampasas. He worked in that capacity until his retirement in 1987.

He was involved in the Lampasas County Youth Livestock Show and in 4-H. He also coached Little League teams.

Mr. Reding was past president of the Men's Golf Association and past president of TASCOE. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Lampasas.

Survivors include his wife of Lampasas; two daughters, Guyanne Reding Crump of Austin and Deborah Reding of Lampasas; one son, Craig Reding of Lansing, Kan.; two sisters, Dorothy Clary Collins of Lampasas and Nelda Vann of Naruna; four grandchildren, Guy Eldon Crump, Gregory James Crump, Jamianne Crump and Sarah Helen Jackson; one great-granddaughter, Lily Crump; and one step-great-grandson, Gabe Jackson.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church in Lampasas.
