LHS FOOTBALL

Anyone who held 2008 season tickets needs to pick them up from the old LHS athletic office this week between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Tickets that are not picked up will go on sale to the general public from Aug. 10-14. The athletic office will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

No season tickets will be available after Aug. 14, but tickets will be for sale on a game-by-game basis.

Season tickets are $25 for five home games.

The Badger Quarterback Club will meet Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the old LHS library to discuss the football program, ice cream social and advertising signs.

All members should plan to attend.

LMS FOOTBALL

Equipment hand-out for eighth-grade players will be on Aug. 20 from 4-8 p.m. and on Aug. 22 from 8 a.m. to noon for all seventh-graders at the new Lampasas Middle School campus.

Practice begins on Aug. 24 from 6:50-7:50 a.m. for seventh-graders, while eighthgraders' practice sessions begin shortly after the school day ends and last until 5:30 p.m.

The first Saturday practice is scheduled for Aug. 29 from 8-10 a.m. for eighth-grade players and from 10 a.m. to noon for the seventh-grade players.

Donations of soap, towels and detergent will be taken during both Saturday practices.

Beginning on the first day of school, the gym will be open at approximately 6:45 a.m.

SOCCER

The Lampasas Soccer Association is currently registering players for the fall season with teams available for both boys and girls ages nine to 18.

Practice begins in early to mid- August with games beginning in mid-September.

The Lampasas Boys and Girls Club will be registering players for its upcoming fall soccer league Aug. 17 through Aug. 21 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Aug. 22 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The league is open to all players ages 3-12.

Forms will be available at the Boys and Girls Club (1602 East FM 580) starting Monday.

Cost is $60 for members and $80 for non-members. Jersey, shorts and socks are included.

Anyone interested in coaching should contact the club at 564- 1669.

The Boys and Girls Club will not be offering a football league this year.

BANQUET

The Lampasas chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation will be holding a banquet and auction at the Hostess House Saturday at 6 p.m.

The event will include a meal, games and a raffle. Proceeds will be used to support outdoor education and conservation efforts in the community.

Single tickets cost $45 and include annual NWTF membership among other things. An additional meal ticket can be purchased for an additional $15.

Tickets for youths under 18 are $15.

BASEBALL

Coast to Coast Baseball is inviting local players ages 10-18 to its next tryout set for Monday at 10 a.m. at the University of Dallas in Irving.

Players will be evaluated on four major skill sets: hitting, fielding, arm strength and speed.

Additionally, there will be an instructional hitting camp held on the same day.
