After falling to the McCallum Knights by 45 points several weeks ago, Lampasas found itself pitted against the squad in the opening round of the All-CenTex Summer League playoffs Wednesday evening.
While the game was much more competitive than before, the final result was the same. The Badgers fell 59-44 to the Knights, extending the Lampasas losing streak to five games.
With only one contest remaining in the summer league season, Lampasas looks to build on the balanced scoring performance it displayed against McCallum.
Leading the way for the Badgers were sophomore Brandon Scott and senior Carlos Cintron, who each scored a dozen points in the loss. Cintron poured in half of his points from long range, draining two 3-pointers.
The senior duo of Eduardo Davila and Miles Russell posted five points apiece to complement the team-high scoring tandem.
Other players who contributed were Manny Lopez (4 pts.), Astin Murray (3 pts.), Secody Howard (2 pts.) and Colton Perkins (1 pt.). Point guard Murray was the only player besides Cintron to connect from beyond the arc, as he scored his lone field goal on a 3-point attempt.
The Badgers wrap up their playoff run next Wednesday when they face the loser between Lanier and District 25-4A rival Marble Falls.
Earlier in summer league play, Lampasas used a buzzer-beating layup to defeat Lanier by a single point, 42-41. In the opening week, the Badgers easily knocked off the Mustangs, winning by 22 points, 53-31.
