The Lampasas Independent School District has released a list of registration dates, orientation schedules and meet the teacher nights for the start of the 2009-10 school year. Registration dates also are available for the Lometa Independent School District.

First day of school for both districts is Aug. 24.

New student registration for Lampasas High School is Aug. 10 for those entering grades 11 and 12, and Aug. 11 for incoming freshmen and sophomores, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days. Registration will take place at the new high school campus on U.S. Highway 281 South. Late LHS registration is Aug. 19 from 5-7 p.m.

High school orientations are set Aug. 19 as follows: seniors, 5 p.m.; juniors, 5:30 p.m.; sophomores, 6 p.m.; and freshmen, from 1-4 p.m.

Meet the teacher night for Lampasas Middle School students is Aug. 18 from 6-8 p.m.

Meet the teacher nights are Aug. 20 from 5-6 p.m. at Kline Whitis Elementary, Hanna Springs Elementary and Taylor Creek El- ementary schools.

Also, the Lampasas ISD will hold vaccination clinics at each registration event. Due to a change in vaccination requirements, parents are encouraged to be sure their children's shots are updated prior to the start of the new school year.

Lometa Independent School District will hold preregistration for 2009-10 classes as follows.

Freshmen and sophomores: Wednesday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Juniors and seniors: Thursday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Seventh- and eighth-grade students: Aug. 7, 8 a.m. to noon.

Students should plan to attend at the appropriate time and select classes to be ready for the first day of the school year.

Students new to the district can stop by the school office anytime after Monday. Bring shot record, Social Security card and birth certificate.
