With the summer-league basketball playoffs right around the corner, the Badgers did not provide the season-ending exclamation point they were hoping for.

Lampasas lost its final two regular-season contests in the All- CenTex Summer League, both against potential playoff foes.

Competing as a Western Conference team, the Badgers lost last week to Hutto and Pflugerville Connally, both from the Eastern Conference. The back-to-back defeats extend Lampasas' losing streak to four games after the team won three in a row.

The Badgers opened the evening by making up a game against Hutto that was postponed earlier in the summer.

Although the matchup was closely contested, the Badgers let it get away late and lost by six points, 44-38.

Senior guard Eduardo Davila led the team in the scoring column, posting a dozen points. Classmate Miles Russell followed with six points, while Brandon Scott and Astin Murray each tallied five.

Sophomore forward Secody Howard (4 pts.), Sean Beatty (2 pts.), Carlos Cintron (2 pts.) and Ethan Byers (2 pts.) were the only other Badgers to score in the upset.

Their second game of the evening was not nearly as close, as the Badgers were knocked off 54-25 by Connally.

Howard led the team with seven points. Scott finished with five, while Byers and Davila added four points apiece.

Russell put three points on the scoreboard, and Cintron chipped in two.

Lampasas was without varsity player Colton Perkins, as well as Manny Lopez and Gabe Myles in both contests.

Sitting in the second seed in the West, the Badgers will open their playoff schedule Wednesday against the third seed in the East, either the Hippos or McCallum.

Lampasas likely is hoping to face District 25-4A rival Hutto after suffering an 83-38 loss at the hands of McCallum two weeks ago.

The playoffs will wrap up on Aug. 5.
