Jerry Swinney Lometa resident Jerry L. Swinney, 73, died July 26, 2009, at Spring Oaks Nursing & Rehab in Lampasas.

Funeral services are July 28 at 11 a.m. at Lometa United Methodist Church with Pastor Celia Kitchens officiating. Burial will follow at Lometa City Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Mr. Swinney was born Feb. 20, 1936, in Lometa, the son of Raymond A. and Lauisia Evans Swinney.

He grew up in Lometa and graduated from Lometa High School.

Mr. Swinney worked for the Potts brothers at Lometa Wool & Mohair for a number of years, and then was a rural mail carrier for the U.S. Post Office in Lometa for 19 years.

He was a member and secretary of the Lometa Lions Club. He also was a member of the Lometa United Methodist Church where he served as treasurer for many years.

He is survived by a cousin, Virgil Evans of Bastrop.

Mr. Swinney was preceded in death by his brother, Johnnie, on June 30, 2009.

Memorials may be made to Lometa United Methodist Church Prayer Garden Fund.
