Dennis Bennett James "Dennis" Bennett, 50, died July 4, 2009, at his home in Lampasas. He had battled kidney disease and cancer.

He was born Feb. 23, 1959, in Tyler, the son of James Thomas and Maxiene Bennett.

Mr. Bennett was born into a military family and lived in many areas around the world. His father was stationed at Fort Hood, and he lived and grew up in Copperas Cove.

He was a Copperas Cove High School graduate, and began a 12- year career with H-E-B food stores in various locations to include Lampasas, Killeen, Temple and Cleburne, where he was a stocker, night manager, service manager and produce manager.

He was a member of For Whosoever Will Ministries of Killeen.

He married Brenda Lee Dumas of Lampasas on Feb. 14, 1982.

Survivors include his wife of Lampasas; one son, James Levi Bennett III of Lampasas; a stepson, Bernard Allen Dumas Thomas of Lampasas; three sisters, Cheryl Morse of Michigan, Rhonda Schultz and Linda Long, both of Copperas Cove; and three grandchildren, Valerie Ann, Damion and Nathan, all of San Antonio.
