Educator to present new curriculum
Lampasas Independent School District agriscience instructor/FFA adviser Dr. Steve Forsythe will be part of the academic team presentation to be conducted at the annual VATAT Conference July 27-31 in Lubbock.
The Vocational Agriculture Teachers Association of Texas is the professional organization of agriscience teachers and is headquartered in Austin.
The presentation will be a part of a weeklong conference attended by over 1,300 agriscience teachers from across the state.
Forsythe recently completed a two-year term as a Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills committee member for the Agriscience/CATE career cluster overseen by the Texas Education Agency.
Appointed by State Board of Education Chairman Gail Lowe, Forsythe assisted a 12-member panel in rewriting and creating new courses and TEKS for agriscience and technology courses in Texas which will be implemented in 2010.
Forsythe will join Ron Whitson, Texas Education Agency state director of agriscience and technology, in presenting a workshop on July 29 in Banquet Hall B of the Lubbock Convention Center.
The presentation, "Incorporating new TEKS and courses into the local agriscience/FFA curriculum," will assist teachers in following a coherent sequence of courses and how the new agriscience courses might be applied for science and math credit.
