2009 "Let's Go Camping" WINNERS

Over 100 kids recently took part in the "Let's Go Camping" event at W.M. Brook Park. The event was put on by the Lampasas Parks Department as an addition to the 2009 KidFish program. Thanks to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, Sulphur Creek was stocked with 500 catfish measuring at least 12 inches apiece, and kids competed to see who could reel in the biggest catch. Above: Keigan Richardson, left, and Faith Gray split first-place honors in the 2-6 age group with catfish measuring 16 1/8 inches.

Justin Velasquez shows off his trophy after earning the top angler award in the 7-11 age group with a catch of 16 5/8 inches. In the 12-16 age division, Jared Langham reeled in the largest catfish and a shiny trophy. His catfish measured 15 3/4 inches.
