Mrs. Tipton
Rebecca Pruett Tipton, 86, died July 3, 2009.
Funeral services are July 7 at 10 a.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel in Lampasas with Minister Lance Sneath officiating. Burial will follow at Killeen Memorial Park.
Mrs. Tipton was born Oct. 29, 1922, in Pounding Mill, Va., to John Thomas and Sophronia Christian Pruett of Virginia.
She was a member of Central Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and was a past matron and former member of Cedar Bluff Chapter #158 Order of the Eastern Star. She was an endowed member of Lampasas Chapter #295 Order of the Eastern Star.
Mrs. Tipton was worthy high priestess and former member of Macedonia Shrine 8, Order of White Shrine of Bluefield, W.Va., and a member of Barnes Beavers VFW 7136 in Tazewell, Va.
She retired from Humana Hospital in Richlands, Va., and moved to Lampasas to be near her son who was retiring from the military.
Mrs. Tipton worked in local nursing homes until 1999.
Survivors include a granddaughter and her husband, Mary A. (Mindy) and Jeff Poole of Lam- pasas; a grandson and his wife, MAC Merlin Adrian and Marci Pruett of Virginia Beach, Va.; greatgrandchildren, Michael A. Pruett Poole and Carol LeAnne Poole, both of Lampasas and Jack Lee Pruett and John Cody Pruett, both of Virginia Beach; and two nieces.
She was preceded in death by a son, retired Sgt. First Class Merlin Pruett, on Jan. 30, 1994; siblings, Virginia Anne, Dorothy E., William H., Isaac Pruett and Gussie Beavers; and a daughter-in-law, Carolyn Pruett, who died on July 3, 2008.
Memorials may be made to Order of the Eastern Star #295 or Central Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Lampasas.
