The varsity Badgers went 1-12 during their five-week stint in the Hill Country Passing League, but that does not mean the 7-on-7 season was unsuccessful.

After losing the final three contests last Tuesday evening, Lampasas head football coach Joey McQueen was disappointed at the lack of victories, but he was certain his team accomplished a lot.

"Some still need a little work but, for the most part, others worked hard."

The coach was also excited about the participation after averaging between 16 and 20 players per week, a significant increase from previous years.

In the final day of the season, Lampasas dropped all three games, falling 25-7 to Llano, 21-13 to Marble Falls and 34-20 to Burnet.

"I know some of the kids are disappointed, but I don't put a lot of stock into [7-on-7]," the coach said. "Maybe this is an omen.

"[Last year,] we nearly won all the 7-on-7 [games] and went 0-10 [in the regular season]. Since we only won once, maybe we'll go 10- 0."

The Badgers kick off their regular-season schedule Aug. 28 at home against Manor.

The junior varsity team went 3-0 in their final outing, getting a forfeit victory over Westlake before beating the host Mustangs 30-14 and shutting out Burnet 40-
