L-M Garden Club officers elected

L-M Garden and Civic Club members met recently to honor Sabrina McKenzie at the end of her two-year term, and to welcome Susan Stone as the new president, along with other new officers.

Janie Potts, installing officer, presented golden roses to each incoming officer as a symbolic reminder that the club will be entering its 50th anniversary milestone this term.

Attached to each rose were ribbons of various colors denoting the responsibilities of each office.

Officers for the next two years who will serve with Mrs. Stone include Tico Hicks, first vice president; Sheri Stone, second vice president; Debbie Miles, secretary; Lewvon Hicks, treasurer; Sabrina McKenzie, parliamentarian; Sue Sheppard, historian; and Mrs. Potts, publicity chairman.

Members voted to plant yellow/ gold flowers around Lometa in honor of the upcoming jubilee year. They also approved a bid for start of work to repair the building's foundation and give a facelift to the front of the Main Street building.

Members who are able will help the contractor prepare the building for work.

The group thanked Sammie Leggett who chaired the committee that searched for a contractor.

Regular club meetings will resume the third Monday in September at 7 p.m.

Membership information is available from current members or by showing up at the September meeting.
