Rainfall totals Tuesday night and Wednesday morning varied throughout the county, with some areas in the western half receiving an inch or more of precipitation.

Travis and Mary Ann Herring collected 1.25 inches of rain at their ranch north of Lometa. Herring said neighbors just to the north near Long Cove got 1.75 inches.

"It will help the hay a whole lot," he said.

A small amount of hail did not cause any damage, Herring added.

In Nix, Lynn Wernette also received small pellets of hail for a short time, along with strong wind and lots of lightning. Rainfall totaled 1.47 inches.

Precipitation in Lampasas totaled 1.65 inches, according to the archives of weather.com.

Eastern portions of the county are not as wet, however. F.A. Taylor received just 0.2 inches at his home east of Kempner.

Christine Groves received 0.2 inches of rain in Rumley Tuesday night, although she reported more than 1.5 inches of precipitation fell Sunday.

"There was just water everywhere," Mrs. Groves said of the earlier rain, which she said was accompanied by high winds.

In Adamsville, R.E. McIlroy recorded 0.4 inches of rain Tuesday.

"We hope we get some more," he said.

McIlroy traveled to Hamilton on Wednesday and said wind did not appear to have damaged property either in that city or in northern Lampasas County.

The rain Tuesday came on the same day that County Judge Wayne Boultinghouse indefinitely lifted the county's outdoor burn ban.
