Church to begin Sunday study
The Come Thirsty Class at First United Methodist Church is beginning a study of "Born for Battle: 31 Studies on Spiritual Warfare" by R. Arthur Mathews.
Class meets Sundays at 10 a.m. Books are available for a suggested $11 reimbursement.
In the forward, Dr. Neil Anderson of Freedom in Christ Ministries writes that he learned about the kingdom of God, but was taught little about the kingdom of darkness. "Then someone put Arthur Mathews' book in my hands and I began to understand the nature of the spiritual battle that believers are called to engage in."
A child of missionaries, Mathews spent his childhood in China, and grew to manhood as a farm hand in Australia.
While Melbourne Bible Institute gave him his formal training, he said the Lord trained him during his years as a missionary in China's interior, his service in the Indian Army during World War II, through four years of house arrest with his wife and baby in Communist China, and his many years as a leader in the Overseas Missionary Fellowship.
Anyone interested in attending is asked to notify the church at 556-5513 or Larry Hart at 556- 6889.
