Key Club garners award; Franklin named to district office

Lampasas High School Key Club members recently attended the 60th annual Texas-Oklahoma District Key Club Convention where they were awarded the Kim Owen Dinsmore Most Improved Club Award.

Key Club is the largest high school service organization, and the local high school club is sponsored by Lampasas Kiwanis Club.

LHS Key Club members increased membership by 100 percent the past year, and improved service to the school and community by 800 percent.

Club members assisted with projects at Lampasas Mission, Lampasas Boys & Girls Club, Austin Ronald McDonald House, Texas Red Cross Hurricane Relief, Special Olympics, UNICEF and Along the Road Home Animal Shelter.

Sarah Franklin, a Lampasas High School junior and Key Club treasurer, was inducted as District 23 governor of the Texas-Oklahoma Key Club. She is pictured following induction with outgoing lieutenant governor Charles Struth of West High School in West. Additionally, LHS Key Club member Sarah Franklin was inducted as the District 23 governor at the convention. She will serve as liaison for several high school clubs in the area to the state organization.

Miss Franklin is a junior at LHS and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Franklin.
