Kline Whitis students get early taste of agriculture

2009-05-05 / Agribusiness

Little chicks are regular visitors to each Ag Day. The Lampasas County Farm Bureau has participated at Kline Whitis Elementary School's Ag Day for a number of years. The organization sponsors a booth, along with other groups, to show students the importance of agriculture.

The Farm Bureau booth illustrates some of the many products students use daily that incorporate agricultural products in the manufacturing process.

Students often are surprised to learn that agricultural products are used to make chewing gum, chalk, toothpaste, compact discs, clothing and food. Almost everything the public uses depends on some agricultural product.

The Texas FB brings a booth that shows many of the products. The group also has a miniature cotton gin that separates the cotton seed from the lint.

And live baby chicks for students to hold are always a highlight of the event.
