Elections slated on Saturday
Early voting ends today, and elections are scheduled Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for Lampasas and Lometa council seats, Lampasas Independent School District board seats and a Justice of the Peace Precinct 1 local-option election.
Voting in the city of Lampasas, the Lampasas ISD and the local-option election (voting precincts 2, 3 and 4) will be conducted at First United Methodist Church.
Lampasas ISD voters in the following precincts may cast ballots at the church.
• Lampasas County voting precincts 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 9.
• Burnet County voting precincts 11, 14, 15 and 16.
• Bell County voting precincts 401 and 402.
• Coryell County voting precincts 105, 108 and 116.
Lampasas ISD voters in the following precincts may cast ballots at the Kempner Fire Training Center in Kempner.
• Precincts 1, 8 and 10.
Ballots for candidates in Lometa city races may be cast at Lometa City Hall.
Following is a list of candidates in each race.
Lampasas City Council: Mayor Judith Hetherly is unchallenged for her position.
Jerry Grayson in Place 1, Evan Stubbs (filling an unexpired term) in Place 3 and John Cole, Place 6, have no challengers.
Bradley Neely is vying with incumbent Robert McCauley for the Place 2 seat.
Lometa City Council: Seats on the ballot include those of the mayor, Cynthia Kirby, who was appointed. The position has one year left in the unexpired term. She is being challenged by former Lometa Mayor Robert McClinton.
Councilwoman Judy Hall did not file for an at-large seat that has one year left on an unexpired term, but Kyle Walton did file for Ms. Hall's unexpired term.
Rigo Reyes and Donnie Bell are running for a full two-year term for an at-large seat.
Lampasas ISD Board of Trustees: Seats to be filled include Place 1, Ron Farr; Place 2, Andrew Irvin; Place 3, Max Keele; and Place 5, Linda Floerke, who was appointed after the death of William Haisler last year. A one-year unexpired term is up for election.
Dan Claussen is challenging Keele for the Place 3 spot, and Mark Bishop is running against Irvin for the Place 2 position.
Voters may select either "for" or "against" the localoption election, styled Proposition 1, which reads: "The legal sale of beer and wine for off-premise consumption only."
Two entities have unchallenged contests. Kempner City Council and Lometa Independent School District are not holding elections this year.
