Lincoln's own National Day of Prayer
      This Thursday will mark the 58th annual National Day of Prayer observance. It is a time in which people in communities across the United States will pray for our local, state and national elected officials. One need look only as far as our states and federal government to see what a predicament we are in as a nation. Many states are operating at a deficit.

Biden shows reckless foot-in-mouth disease
It's one thing for cable news to behave irresponsibly. It's quite another for the vice president to do so. Biden could turn out to be more dangerous to Americans than the flu virus.
      The White House, commendably, seems to be trying to quiet the hysteria building around swine flu, but apparently the vice president didn't get the memo. On Thursday, Vice President Joe Biden told Americans to stay out of airplanes, subways and other "confined spaces" on NBC's "Today Show.

Indifference to the gospel
      Just as the New York Times was front-paging a supposed upsurge in atheism (God? What God?) came complementary tidings from the Pew Research Center. To wit, it's not church spats over gay marriage or pedophilia that seem to be driving Christians out the door.
