Mrs. McGehee

 
Ruby May Chambers McGehee, 74, died April 2, 2009, at her residence in Lampasas.

Mrs. McGehee was born May 26, 1934, in New Mexico to Alvin and Maggie Bishop Chambers.

She married Johnnie McGehee Sr. on Jan. 1, 1954, in Hico.

Mrs. McGehee retired from the Civil Service and was a caregiver to many in Lampasas, Lometa and Burnet.

Mrs. McGehee loved to sew for her family. She was an avid reader and loved to swim.

Mrs. McGehee was preceded in death by her husband; five brothers, William Chambers, Alvin Chambers, L.B. Chambers, Virgil Chambers and Odelee Chambers; and two sisters, Maggie Fuqua and Sallie Parker.

Survivors include a son, Johnnie McGehee Jr. and wife Linda of Lampasas; two stepdaughters, Joan Billings and husband Tom of Victoria, and Patt Utterback and husband Jim of Fort Worth; and six grandchildren, Charity Phipps and husband Phillip of Port St. Lucie, Fla., Christopher Billings and wife Teri of Duncan, Okla., Johnnie McGehee III and wife Stephanie of Lampasas, Jamie Ivey and husband Jake of Port St. Lucie, Fla., Valinda McGehee of Hillsboro, and Justin McGehee and wife Cassidy of Lampasas.

Other survivors include 14 greatgrandchildren, Malachi, Caleb, Micah and Faith Phipps of Port St. Lucie, Fla., Abbigail Billings of Duncan, Okla., Shelby, Jerry, Topher and Johnnie IV McGehee of Lampasas, Jordan, Ericka and Alexander Rodriguez of Hillsboro, and Haiden and Kendall McGehee of Lampasas.
