CTC lists upcoming non-credit courses

The Central Texas College Continuing Education Department offers several new non-credit classes for March along with some returning favorites.

Registration is now open for the following classes.

Tennis: Organized Play and Drills: This new class is open to all skill levels. Learn to improve court skills and then play singles and doubles. The class meets Mondays, March 2- 30, from 6- 7:30 p.m. The cost is $26.

Jazzercise: A fun way to get fit features easy-tofollow choreography in a blend of jazz dance and exercise. The course includes a gentle warm-up, a onehour workout, muscle toning and strength training. Classes are Mondays and Wednesdays, March 2- 30, from 5:40- 6:40 p.m. There also is a Tuesday/Thursday class at the same time from March 3- 31. Cost for either class is $26.

Investment Basics: This easy-to-understand class covers investment topics including cash management, tracking cash flow, basic investment terminology and concepts involving stocks, bonds and mutual funds. The class is March 3 from 6:30- 8:30 p.m. The cost is $14.

Retirement Planning Today: Plan for the future with today's ever-changing retirement process. This class takes an aggressive approach to retirement planning and helps participants set clear retirement goals. Class is on March 3 and March 10, from 6- 9:30 p.m. Another class is set March 7 and March 14, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Cost for either class is $24 plus $25 for a course workbook.

Landscaping Basics: This new class will help students create a beautiful landscape whether they are doing a complete yard makeover or just designing a new garden. Course topics include idea sources, sketches, design plans, choosing the right plants, ground preparation, installation and more. Class will meet March 10 and March 12 from 6- 8:30 p.m. The cost is $26.

Discover Scuba: Discover the excitement and adventure and the weightless exhilaration of breathing underwater. This program takes participants underwater in a swimming pool to learn the basics of scuba diving. This course does not end in certification. All equipment is provided. The class is Wednesday, March 11 from 6- 7:30 p.m. The cost is $36.

Introduction to Social Media for Enterprise : Designed for corporations, businesses and organizations, this class discusses the basics about the numerous Web 2.0 tools, platforms and media resources available online and how they are being used for sharing information and collaborating with others. Class will include demonstrations of how to put social tools such as blogs, podcasts, widgets and wikis to work in one's organization. The class meets March 13 from 9 a.m. to noon. The cost is $16.

Common Sense Parenting: Learn tools to help make child-rearing more fulfilling. The class is March 17 from 8 a.m. to noon. The cost is $14.

Anger Resolution: Learn to make healthy choices and proactively manage one's life. Course topics include anger inventory and progression, self-evaluation, calming techniques, journaling for ongoing resolution and more. The class meets March 17 from 1- 5 p.m. The cost is $14.
