Lother Matthys of Lampasas was honored on his 90th birthday with a party at Faith Lutheran Church with family, friends and neighbors in attendance, including siblings, Alma Matthys of Wharton, Helen McGee and Irene Matthys of Houston and Richard Matthys of Lawton, Okla. Mr. Matthys was born Feb. 20, 1919, in Wharton. Here he follows an annual family tradition of blowing out the candles on his cake with his grandson, Josh Matthys of Pflugerville, who was born on his grandfather's birthday in 1985.
