Ludewig scored four goals in the first half, but could not add to his total as referees stopped the match due to weather with 1:26 remaining before the break. Lampasas was leading 4-1 when the match was called and was granted the victory after Hutto declined to finish the contest. The Lady Badgers could not have asked for a better start to district play.

Behind a trio of goals from Angel Waters, Lampasas dismantled Hutto 4-0 to capture a districtopening victory.

"We had about 10 shots on goal in the first half," head coach Mark Guszak said. "The team played outstanding and could have easily scored eight to nine goals.

"I think the tough out-of-district [opponents] have really helped prepare us."

The Lady Badgers (3-4-3, 1-0 district) tallied two goals in each half, with freshman Megan Mason scoring to complement Waters' outstanding effort.

"We have moved Angel to forward [from center midfielder], and she has scored five goals in two games," Guszak said. "The switch [in position] has really helped to bring out her greatness. We will probably start Mason at the other forward spot [tonight against Hendrickson].

"There is potential greatness in her."

Kickoff is set for 7:45 p.m.

Lampasas will be short a pair of senior starters in the road match, as Ashley Thompson and Sarah Pillow will miss the contest.

Guszak knows his other starters will have to pick up the slack, but he feels confident his team can overcome the obstacle.

"We are going to have two new people playing defense [and] this is dangerous, but we have no choice because of the situation," the coach said. "I look at this as an opportunity for someone new to step up and shine.

"I am not treating it as a negative but the potential for a positive."

In addition to the play of Mason and Waters, the Lady Badgers coach was pleased with his midfielders Jontell Ritz, Kassie Carpenter, Sam Thomas and Andy Dibble.

"[They] did a great job of controlling the field," Guszak said.

Following their trip to Hendrickson, the Lady Badgers return home for a match against Lake Travis before heading to Marble Falls next Friday.

After that, Lampasas can look forward to a span of five matches with four coming at home. The Lady Badgers will host Killeen, Hutto and Hendrickson before heading to Austin for a showdown with Lake Travis in early March.

The final home game is scheduled for March 10 against the Lady Mustangs before concluding regular-season play against Killeen at Leo Buckley Stadium.
