Martha Schaffer A memorial graveside service for Martha Papendorf Schaffer, 81, of Lampasas is Jan. 17, 2009, at 1 p.m. at Mart Cemetery in Mart.

The body will be cremated.

Mrs. Schaffer died Jan. 7 at Lampasas Nursing & Rehab.

She was born March 16, 1927, in Otto, the daughter of William and Emma Glenz Papendorf.

She married Karl William Schaffer and they made Mart their home for many years.

Mrs. Schaffer was cook for Mart schools for 30 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Mart.

Survivors include a daughter, Marsha Kay Schaffer of Burlington, Vt.; one sister, Elise Trantham of Clovis, N.M.; three grandchildren, Deena Lee Weems and Russann Hankins, both of Lampasas, and Amy Jo Braun of Waco; and four great-grandchildren, Erik Christopher Anderson, Brittany White, Katlyn Hankins and Jace Hankins.

She was preceded in death by her husband; by a son, Gary Schaffer; and by a brother, Benjamin Papendorf.
