Lady Badgers drop district-opener
Lampasas cannot overcome poor shooting and late turnovers at Hutto, fall by nine points
      Sometimes silence speaks volumes. After Tuesday night's 67-58 district-opening loss at Hutto, Stuart Beckwith was speechless when it came time for a post-game interview. The head coach simply could not muster the energy to reflect on just how his Lady Badgers allowed another game to slip through their fingers.

      The Badgers are heading into the regular season on a high note. The Lampasas boys' soccer team knocked off Killeen Shoemaker 3- 0 Tuesday evening in the final scrimmage before the squad kicks off its season at the Smithville tournament today with the first round scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.

Badgers lack offensive balance, lose to Lions
      Badgers head coach Scott Harrelson knows all his players are very talented. And that is exactly what makes Tuesday's loss to Brownwood all the more frustrating. "Each player, at the level they are now, could have started on any team I have had here at Lampasas," Harrelson said.       The Badgers' subvarsity basketball teams both squeaked out two-point wins Tuesday against Brownwood. After building a 10-point lead in the fourth quarter, Lampasas' freshman squad almost let the game slip away as the Lions roared back to go ahead by a point, 23-22, in the contest's final minutes.
