Former Lometa resident Mary Lillian Harbour McMahan died Dec. 8, 2008, at her residence in Jal, N.M., at age 83.

Services were Dec. 10 at First Baptist Church in Jal with burial at Jal Cemetery.

Mrs. McMahan was born July 18, 1925, in Lometa, to Albert and Pearl Duncan Harbour.

She married James Stanton McMahan on June 7, 1947, in Lometa.

Mrs. McMahan attended Durham's Business College in Austin. She had lived in Jal for 51 years where she was a member of First Baptist Church.

Mrs. McMahan worked as a bank teller, secretary and sold Avon. She was a Girl Scout leader.

Her hobbies included traveling, cooking, needlework and sports.

Survivors include her husband, Stanton; children, Roxie Swain and husband, Harold, of Jal, Brenda Stephens and husband, Jerry, of Houston, and Keith McMahan of New Albany, Ind.; four grandchildren, Toni Bridges and husband, Cole, of Camas, Wash., Kevin Swain and wife, Stephanie, of Las Vegas, Nev., and Aaron and Rachel McMahan of New Albany; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. McMahan was preceded in death by three brothers, Elmer Harbour, Cecil Harbour and Aaron Harbour; and seven sisters, Jewel Harbour, Hettie Blauvelt, Edna Coble, Myrtle Harbour, Velma Harbour, Florence Short and Elve Mathis.
