Mildred Butts Funeral services for Mildred Lavaine Butts, 88, of Lampasas were Jan. 3, 2009, at Sneed Funeral Chapel with Dr. Rick Willis officiating. Burial was at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lampasas.
Mrs. Butts died Jan. 1 at her residence.
She was born Dec. 11, 1920, in Moline, the daughter of Newel Hill and Ella Mae Lee Poe.
Mrs. Butts attended and graduated from Star High School, where she lettered in basketball.
She married Lloyd Doyle Butts on Nov. 6, 1942, in Lampasas.
Mrs. Butts was a clerk at Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store in Lampasas for many years. She enjoyed gardening, sports and cooking.
Survivors include her husband of Lampasas; two daughters and their husbands, Linda and Bob Harris and Sue and Larry Richter, all of Lampasas; two sons and their wives, Larry D. and Lanelle Butts and Dudley G. and Carolyn Butts, all of Lampasas; two brothers-inlaw, Garland Walser and Harold Butts and wife, Nelda; and two sisters in-law, Jean Poe and Mildred Butts.
Other survivors are eight grandchildren, Brad Butts and wife, Lisa, Lisa Singleton, Tony Harris and wife, Jessica, Bobbie Baird, Brian Richter and wife, Melinda, Mark Richter and wife, Christie, Alison Martone and husband, Johnny, and Dustin Butts and wife, Jamie; and nine great-grandchildren, Morgan Savage, Dylon Singleton, Nick Harris, Will Harris, Bart Baker, Colton Baker, Austyn Baker, Ethan Martone and Henry Martone.
Mrs. Butts was preceded in death by four brothers, Elmer Poe, Dudley Poe, Doyce Poe and Glen Poe; and by three sisters, Delma Cox, Christine Lodico and Gladys Walser.
The family requested memorials be made to the National Stroke Foundation.
