Mrs. Butts died Jan. 1 at her residence. She was born Dec. 11, 1920, in Moline, the daughter of Newel Hill and Ella Mae Lee Poe.

      The Rev. Lefy Erick Vallecillo Ortiz, former interim pastor at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Lampasas, died Jan. 4, 2009, at his residence in Temple following a lengthy battle with cancer. He was 46. Funeral services are Jan. 10 at 3 p.m. at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Lampasas, followed by a fellowship meal. Visitation will be Jan. 9 from 6-8 p.m.
