Spring Ho County Fair results, top recipes
      The 2008 Spring Ho County Fair was held at First Texas Bank's community room. Taking best of show in the adult division of the county fair was Barbara Carlson McClure with her quilt. Reserve best of show honors went to Carolyn Hamilton with a quilt.

Kids, adults shuck corn; prizes awarded winners
      The Lampasas County Farm Bureau Corn-Shucking Contest was held for children ages 3 to 12, as well as adults. Youths earned $10, and the adult winner received a Farm Bureau bag and mug. An overall winner in each division follows.

      The 2008 Spring Ho Festival Miss Spring Ho and Little Miss were selected following opening ceremonies. Winners follow. Miss Spring Ho: Kristin Asaff, daughter of Paul and Cheryl Ann Hall-Wendele, and Kevin Asaff. She earned a $1,500 scholarship.

      Buyers were out in force for the annual Spring Ho Arts and Crafts Fair at W.M. Brook Park last weekend. Shoppers could purchase anything from antiques to zebra-patterned purses. Jewelry booths dominated in the number of offerings this year.

      It's a girl! Floyd and Cathy Short of Lampasas announce the birth of their daughter, Marisa Jane, born June 18, 2008, at 3:32 p.m. at Metroplex Hospital in Killeen. At birth, Marisa weighed 6 pounds, 13 ounces and was 19 1/2 inches in length.
