A memorial service and burial of ashes will be held for John Ronald Bryant (Big John), 64, July 19, 2008, at Smith Cemetery at School Creek.
Mr. Bryant died June 23 after a long battle with cancer.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam. His medals and awards include the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Bronze Star and Purple Heart.
Mr. Bryant was an accomplished carpenter and spent the last few years working with his crew on houses in the Fort Worth area.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially in the Lampasas area and West Texas mule deer country.
He is survived by his wife, Judy; two sons, Gregory, of Fort Worth, and Mark, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two daughters, Cindy and Suzanne, of Bath, Pa.; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and four sisters and one brother of Louisville, Ky.
He was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.
