July 4 celebration in Lometa

Small-town America is alive and well as seen in the late evening of July 4 at the Lometa Regional Park. Thanks go to one individual who took it upon himself four years ago to provide a fireworks display for the citizenry of our town.

Mr. Walt Powell and his band of helpers produced a striking display of light and sound for the sizable crowd (200-300 people and dogs) gathered to celebrate the birth of our nation.

Mr. Powell works year round seeking donations for the cost of the event and even digs into his own pocket when more money is needed. I wanted to thank him publicly for making the July 4 celebration in Lometa very special. God bless America!
