From the eyes of a volunteer The Boys and Girls Club of Lampasas is having trouble meeting its goal to raise funds to stay open. The goal for this year is $50,000. They have only been able to raise a small amount of that. The Boys and Girls Club has several money-making events each year but cannot raise enough funds in this manner. They also depend on donations from interested people of Lampasas (unfortunately, there are only a few). Several more are needed. Lampasas should be proud to have the Boys and Girls Club here. They serve 60 to 80 children on a daily basis, providing a safe and secure environment for them to play and interact with other children and adults. It is a learning area, also. They learn sportsmanship, computer skills and get homework assistance. The Boys and Girls Club of Lampasas is open weekdays, year round, not only during the summer or school days. The membership cost to parents or guardians is only $20 per year. Dependents of military are free. Our community and school officials stress that our children are first. Let us help the Boys and Girls Club of Lampasas do that also. The city of Lampasas and the surrounding community need to step forward and contribute to the Boys and Girls Club of Lampasas so they may keep the doors open and serving our children and providing a safe and secure facility. The Boys and Girls Club bus needs to be repainted and seat upholstery repaired. We have several businesses in Lampasas that could step up and donate or assist in any manner they can. Please contact the Boys and Girls Club of Lampasas directly at 564-1669 and tell them you want to help the Boys and Girls Club. Donations are tax-deductible. God bless all who can help.
