TxDOT completes improvements

The Texas Department of Transportation has completed a series of safety improvements along a sixmile stretch of Farm-to-Market Road 580 West.

Work began at the intersection of Porter Street and FM 580 and continued westward, officials said. Along with work on FM 580, Mann Contractors Ltd. of Hutto repaired a damaged culvert on U.S. Highway 281 north of Adamsville.

Mann Contractors completed the work during a 3 1/2-month period at a total cost of about $251,000.

"We thank the public for their patience while we updated drainage structures to improve safety and drainage, and increased the turning radius of FM 580 at Porter Street for westbound traffic to improve safety," TxDOT Lampasas Area Engineer Tom Dahl said.

"All of these upgrades will provide a safer roadway for travelers on FM 580 West."
