Lometa's FFA Junior Rodeo on tap Dust off your Stetson and give those boots a shine. It's time for the 55th annual Lometa FFA Junior Rodeo. Beginning at 8 p.m. last night and running nightly through Saturday at the Lometa Regional Park's arena, the rodeo is set to continue its longstanding tradition of skilled rodeo youth combined with high-energy entertainment. "The rodeo is a tradition for the Lometa FFA, and serves as its primary source of fund-raising," said Brad Barnett, Lometa ISD ag instructor and FFA adviser. "The FFA has had a successful year of competition, and with success comes expenses. The rodeo gives us a chance to fund our travel and activities for the upcoming year while also giving members a chance to give back to the community that has supported them." The rodeo is operated entirely by local FFA members and supporters as well as community volunteers. Youths of all ages are invited to compete. Three age divisions are offered: pee-wee for ages 8 and under; junior, ages 9 to 13; and senior, ages 14 to 19. There will be jackpot senior events nightly, as well as twonight average for belt buckles and all-around. Books close at 7:30 p.m. with no ground money paid. Rodeo livestock will be furnished by stock contractor T-G Rodeo Company. For additional information contact Barnett at (512) 734- 3587. |
