Carbon Caucus discusses climate change The first meeting of the Texas Carbon Caucus took place recently at the state capitol. Organized by Rep. Warren Chism (R-Pampa), the meeting offered discussion on innovative ways to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases. Rep. Jimmie Don Aycock (RKilleen) was among those in attendance. Presentations on climate change policy and its impact on Texas were given by Carl Bauer, director of the Department of Energy's National Energy Technology Lab; Dr. Scott Tinker, director of the Bureau of Economic Geology at the University of Texas; and Dr. Gerald North, professor of climate science at Texas A&M University. "Like many people, I am concerned about the environmental issues facing Texas," said Aycock. "I am excited about the Carbon Caucus and look forward to studying these issues and putting our heads together to find viable solutions." Aycock can be contacted about these issues at (512) 463- 0684 in Austin, or at his district office in Lampasas at 556-8954. |
