LHS students have success at state UIL meets

Lampasas High School Speech & Debate Team has completed another successful year culminating with trips to the UIL State Academic Meet in both speech and debate.
Seniors Taryn Brown and Kirby Crow advanced to Octofinals at the UIL State CX Debate Meet, marking the 10th consecutive year LHS was represented at the state event.
Junior Trevor McGuire advanced to the UIL State Academic Meet in persuasive speaking, while sophomore Shelby Randolph advanced in informative speaking. McGuire also advanced to the Texas Forensics Association State Meet in foreign extemporaneous speaking.
Lampasas speech and debate advanced to the Texas Association for Pupil Transportation State Speech Meet.

Junior Jessica Sterling, sophomore Shelby Randolph and freshman Taylor Holloman all moved to state competition.
Each girl received a $100 savings bond for placing first in their respective age groups at regional contest.
At state, Miss Randolph took second, earning a $500 savings bond, and Miss Holloman placed third, receiving a $350 savings bond.
Many team members will be attending speech and debate camps this summer in preparation for another successful year during 2008-09.
Janet Melton is the speech and debate teacher/UIL coach for the high school.
