Stage set for annual car cruise

Car cruise enthusiasts have a day set aside just for them Saturday as the 22nd annual Sulphur Creek Car Cruise kicks off at 9 a.m. at W.M. Brook Park.

Under the auspices of the Lampasas County Chamber of Commerce, numerous participants from across the state are expected to participate.

Park admission is free for spectators.

Entries include everything from street rods and classic autos to exotic mini-trucks, and antiques to motorcycles and muscle cars.

The cruise is a rally where people with a common interest in hobby cars gather for the weekend to see each other's vehicles.

The schedule calls for entrants to participate in an open run. Participants and their families then are invited to join in a number of activities and games.

A parade through town at 4 p.m. will offer local residents a glimpse of the cars as they cruise down Key Avenue.

Awards, dash plaques and T-shirts are presented, and a barbecue dinner will close out the day.

Visitors are encouraged to stop by the park to see the cars. Owners, who enjoy talking about their vehicles, also appreciate visitors' questions and photos.

Entry is allowed event day, and includes cars, trucks and motorcycles.

For information or registration forms. phone the chamber at 556- 5172 or visit www. lampasaschamber.org, or stop by the office on U.S. Highway 281 South.
